Description

Marble / It's been two years since I put a chisel into stone. It's taken me that long to move my sculpting studio from Delaware to MA. I've had this 550 lb block of stone for about six years. It's, by far, the largest stone I've worked on. I'm about 60 hours in. It's free carved without photo or even a drawing reference. I'm exhausted and I'll need to take some time off for work soon. But I am happy with where it's going.

I like where you are taking this stone - I also love to direct carve stone, and figures especially. I'm one of a small group of stone carvers in the Washington, DC area, with a studio in a place called Glen Echo. Stone carving going strong here. By the way, where did you acquire the marble block?
