Well I just checked off a bucket list item that's been hanging out there for over 25 years, and I got to do it with my daughter. We completed a swim crossing of The Hellespont from Europe to Asia in Turkey. It is a 4.5 km open water crossing involving very strong current. It is rich in history and legend. Names associated with this waterway include Xerxies, Alexander The Great, Hero & Leander, Jason and The Argonauts and Lord Byron who was the first documented person to have swum the channel. On the Asian shore is the site of Ancient Troy and on the European side, the WWI battle of Gallipoli was fought.
